Helping our community to do better so we all thrive.

The Montrose County Democratic Party has chosen two very worthy organizations to support this fall. These organizations provide essential safety net resources to children and their families who struggle with access to affordable, reliable, and consistent mental health care, as well as primary pediatric and adult medical services.

Northside Health Center is an on-campus, school-based facility located at Northside Elementary School that has been serving the community for 14 years.  They provide a wide array of services (regardless of insurance status) including individual mental health counseling, expanded primary pediatric and adult medical services, expanded pediatric mental health services, immunizations, and additional community support.

The Center for Mental Health is a nonprofit organization that provides an extensive range of behavior health care services in six different counties on the Western Slope — Montrose, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Ouray, Delta, and San Miguel.  Their Early Childhood Program provides access and services to children regardless of their family’s income level or ability to pay.

Both the Northside Health Center and The Center for Mental Health provide critical support services to their clients that help them navigate the uncertainties of this unprecedented time in our global history now, but also going forward, so that they may live their best lives.

Halfway through the project and thanks to generosity of our community, we have already received a bounty of donations for our local kids! We can still use a lot more winter gear or cash to buy more books. Please share (below) with your friends and families.

From October 19 through November 18, 2021, 100% of the proceeds will help provide assurance to those in the most difficult of conditions that they are not alone, and that our community recognizes that we must all work to lift one another up to form that more perfect union.

Requested items include:

  • New children’s books ages 0-teen, with a particular focus on ages 0-7
  • New children’s educational card games and decks of playing cards
  • New children’s (all ages) winter gear – mittens, gloves, socks, scarves

All items are so gratefully appreciated and may be dropped off at the Montrose County Democrats office located at 11 South Townsend, Montrose from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Everything will be distributed to both of these essential organizations at the conclusion of the drive.
