The Lunch Bunch grew out of a Jane Jefferson group here in Montrose that had been active for a long time. It was a large nationwide nonprofit association and most of the groups went on to form the Women’s Federation.  At that point, the active members of the Montrose County Democratic Party did not have the interest in continuing as a non-profit, so the group decided to form an informal lunch group instead.

The name was changed to the Democratic Lunch Bunch with two goals:  to provide left-leaning voters a chance to socialize and to provide educational presentations on civic issues.  They usually meet on the first Tuesday of the month, although sometimes the date will be changed because of a holiday or if the library has a conflict.

Although they meet every month, one month is just an opportunity to enjoy lunch together at a local restaurant, then the next month will offer a presentation in the Montrose Library meeting room.

There are no officers for this group, however, Janine Gwaltney and Cindy Buttermore work together to coordinate the event each month.  They are currently looking for help, particularly with advertising.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact lunchbunch@montrosedemocrats.org.
