The City Council meeting last night was well attended. As I mentioned, the current City Council has decided to not honor the requested proclamation by Montrose Pride to proclaim June as Pride Month. Although this proclamation has been recognized the past two years, not happening this year. There were two CC members in support, David Reed and Dave Frank, those who were not Michael B., and Adam Woodden. Ed Ulibabarri “could not be bothered” and did not vote.

Mayor Mike is going to propose some major changes to the City Charter which will need Council vote to appear on the November ballot. Some of these changes have some worth, some absolutely do not, such as putting the hiring and firing of the Chief of Police, in addition to the City Clerk, under the control (if you will) of the City Council. That’s the bottom line.

We are encouraging as many as can to plan on attending the City Council Work Session on June 1 at 9:00. There will be a time for public comment. More information to follow as the date approaches. But for the immediate future, if you can
PLEASE PLAN ON ATTENDING THE MEETING ON JUNE 1, 9:00AM, CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS!!!! Invite your friends! We need to pack the room.

We as residents of Montrose need to become more proactive and continue to hold our elected officials accountable. This is a great way to do just that.
