2026 Montrose County Caucus and Assembly

Caucuses and assemblies are how Democrats nominate their favorite candidates to the primary ballot.

This is where we elect precinct organizers, identify election judges, move candidates forward, and decide how our party shows up on the ballot. This process gives everyday Democrats a direct voice in the future of the party.

At a caucus, Democrats come together to:

Caucus is open to registered Democrats who live in Montrose County. Pre-registered 16- and 17-year-olds may also participate.

All of the Montrose County precincts will caucus at Centennial Middle School in Montrose on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Doors open at 10:00 AM for registration. Caucus begins at 10:30 AM, followed by lunch provided by the Montrose County Democratic Party for all who stay to participate in the county assembly.

Please bring your charged cell phone. You will use it for “preference polling” during caucus and assembly. The Colorado Democratic Party has set up everything online this year, so we won’t be buried in paper the way we have been in previous caucuses.

Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer an online option this year, however, our venue is fully accessible, ensuring everyone can join us comfortably!

Democratic Party caucuses across the state will select at-large and uncommitted delegates for the County Assembly, where candidate representation will be decided. To champion your favorite candidate, simply attend the caucus and become a county delegate. Your voice matters — let’s make it count!

Precinct Organizers (POs) will also be elected. A precinct organizer is a grassroots leader for a specific voting area known as a precinct, which is typically the size of a neighborhood. They play a crucial role in educating voters about our issues and candidates while working to elect nominees from the Democratic Party.

Commit to Caucus! Connect with your Democratic neighbors and candidates while actively contributing to the future of your neighborhood, community, and our wonderful state of Colorado. Let’s make a difference together!

Your candidates need you to show up. If they do not get at least 15% of the votes, they cannot obtain delegates for the next Assembly and 30% to be nominated onto the ballot.

This is a special responsibility we have as a Party. Be kind to each other and remember we’re all in it because we care about the same things — even when we disagree. Bring a friend! Have fun — winning campaigns and winning teams are always having more fun than the ‘other’ team.
